Studio aka my bedroom

My ceramic cute-things in my bathroom.

Hi everybody, I have been living in Toronto for five years in the same place. It is a three-story townhouse in the St. Lawrence Market area (gorgeous, quaint, close to transit and still relatively 'downtown') and I have lived in every room of this three-bedroom, three-story townhouse. I am now living on the top floor, where I have a private bathroom and entrance to the upstairs terrace. This is where I will be living for the next 2+ years (rent is cheap... and I owe lots!) so I decided to make this my home as much as possible. I've been trying to paint pieces to put on my walls (I really don't like to decorate with my own artwork.... but I am trying to live with it) and also to keep drawing... like a fiend!
Anyblabberingaboutnothing..... here are some photos for me to share of my room...

Edel Rodriguez. He. Is. Hot.

Wood courtesy of the OCAD Wood Shop Trash Pile.

EDDIE! Also, an octowl, given to me by a friend.

I got these little frames in Kensington Market for very cheap. I filled them with models from Vogue.

Two portraits obviously done by myself (looks down in shame) and my Russian nesting dolls.
I am trying to trade one painting for one of Ginette Lapalmes...

My inspiration board. Lots of pink, white, and blue.

My Michael DeForge print! Hanging in my bathroom where it matches my towels.

And lastly, my Patrick Kyle print. We went to school together and he is going to be famous.

new sketchbook items

Hi everybods,

This summer has been pretty bleak: I've been working two jobs trying to pay off my student loan but I still have drawing lust .... I managed to pump out a few little coloured drawings and decided to share. I am in the process of uploading my website, working on a few promo pieces, and planning a wicked NYC trip in November to attend the American Illustration:28 party.

VICELAND!

I have some new work up on VICE. Check it out!
They were really rough sketches that the editor liked from the get-go. My sister wrote the piece and together we make quite the team. The story is basically about her client, a businessman, that required my sister to do some research on Strip Clubs that went far beyond her services as a temporary personal assistant.

Her blog is www.skipraid.com if you are in to that sort of thing.

Have a good summer!

Sketchbook

Since school has let out I have been pretty pre-occupied with everything but drawing.
I've devoted the most of today to my sketchbook and came up with a few things that aren't too haggard for the internet.
Enjoy!

End of an Era!

I want to address http://www.penguinandfish.blogspot.com/. They added my illustrations under April 28th. I didn't even know about it until today since my Flickr account has been sort of a mess to figure out. I think what I like most about Penguin and Fish is that everything is really fresh and creative. Also, adorable. Cools!

In completely different news:
The OCAD Grad Show is coming to an end; it ends tomorrow at 6pm, last day to see everything from 08/09!!! The work is really strong, but in particular, the Illustration section. We did amazing!!! If you can't make it to the show, check out the OCAD Illustration Website to see all of our stuff. I helped create it! Oh yes I did.
I am almost officially done with OCAD! Sad and happy times.

Summer in the city

Hi friends,
Exciting news! I had two images of mine chosen for American Illustration 28! I'm pretty excited because I get to go to New York again in November, and from the sounds of it I am not alone!
Last year I went with my boyfriend and I was extremely nervous and shy, I felt so small compared to the Illustration greats and important art directors. This year, a lot of my fellow students also have been chosen for the website (and one Adrian Forrow was selected for the book, congrats!) so I think the party will be well represented by OCAD.

Here are the two images chosen...

"Animals"

"Wienie"

I'm still trying to wrap up my thesis pieces for the 94th Annual Graduation Exhibit at OCAD May 7 - 10. SO STRESSFUL but I am really excited to start working!!!  We are also putting together a website of all of the thesis pieces. It may not be up now but check back in one week... www.ocadillustration.com

Bye!

DELAYED!!!

Oh my goodness, it's been two whole months since an update!
Reasons being: I am ALMOST done school, and my laptop, may she rest in peace, has been out of commission for about one month. I'm also re-working my website, so there is lots in store!
Here are a few updates on my sketchbook for you:

More to come!

Pray for Mojo

First Nest

I spent last night entering the annual CMYK Student Competition, uploading 15 images in hopes of getting recognition in the outside world. This is something I made up in a mater of minutes to complete the 15.

My labour

Last semester I spent about twelve weeks working on a graphic novel called The Bad Ones. I thought I'd share my labour of love (and at times, hate)
Enjoy! (You'll want to click image to make larger... unless you have very very good eyesight)

The Ladies

Hello everyone,
I've started drawing these girls and colouring them with marker and coloured pencils, and I quite enjoy them. While drawing them I got nostalgic for my Barbie colouring books... They all teach valuable lessons.
